El Polen - Cholo LP

Artist: El Polen
Title: Cholo (Música Original De La Banda Sonido)
Speed: 33 RPM
Holy grail hippy psych-folk masterpiece from Peru's El Polen. A calm, mind-expanding trip of cosmic roots, rock and Andino folklore. Formed in the MIraflores region of Lima in the late 1960s, El Polen was a very progressive explosion of artistic freedom and community by the time their debut album was released on Virrey in 1972. The compositions were originally auditioned for a documentary about the life of footballer Hugo "Cholo" Sotil, and part of that repertoire made it's way to this studio recording, for which the musicians sat on the floor, turned out the studio lights and recorded this piece of magical history in 3 hours. Virrey thought little of the album when it came out and it is believed to have been scrapped at only 1000 original presses of both this and their 2nd LP. Lovingly restored from the master tapes by Lima-based label Buh Records, this edition comes with an insert booklet and is limited to 500 copies worldwide. Soundclips hardly do these records justice. Essential fruit and an important cog in the history of Peruvian music!!
